After filming the music score in the last post, I sent it to the two teachers that I discussed previously for a feedback on the product. The following are the comments they gave me after listening to the piece.
Jaymi Daniels : Secondary School Music Educator, Chair of BCMEA Conference, Rep at CMEA, Director of KISSM
“This piece is really cool and I like the arrangement you’ve done! When I first started listening, I didn’t understand the intro, because it’s so different from the start of the vocals, but it make sense now that I’ve heard the whole thing. The vocal parts seem accessible and the piano part fits them nicely! I like the balance of partner song, and then harmony sections. It’s really cool! Great Job!”
Samantha Levasseur : Elementary School Music Educator, Musical Director of KISSM
” I love it! This sounds like such a fun piece! You should try and do this with a choir at KISSM this summer! It would be pretty awesome to premier it at a showcase concert!” She mentioned the integration of Korean and English within the song and how this would be possible to be performed by the Elementary choir. She also said she is eager to listen to it with words, as the program does not support that function.
Some other feedbacks included a mention of culturally inclusive learning experience for the students, potential activities possible cross-curriculum, like Language Arts, Social Studies and other arts classes. Although I won’t be able to put this into a performance before the end of the class, I will attach a final version of the song below, which I made small changes from the previous one. With all these learnings, I hope my next arrangement will come in a little more easily.
