POD Checkpoint Presentations

We have worked on this project for weeks, but we haven’t quite connected and brought it together as one presentation before this class. Bringing the content together, we were able to reflect on our initial purpose of choosing this topic and weave it into our presentation. I was personally very nervous to present it to the class, as it was barely touching on the surface of how much I want to include in the final product. However, listening to the other groups present made me change some of the thoughts I had about my presentation. I think everyone had a great topic they have chosen to explore and the significance of the topics in current education climate was well represented in all presentations. I even thought that my pod’s presentation was delving too deep into a specific aspect of the social media in student life. Yet, I do think that it is important to address the connection between a marginalized student population and the impact that social media has on students, because these small things that almost everyone carry around with them nowadays have different use and meaning to each.

The feedbacks we got for our presentation was also very helpful in guiding the future research and presentation. We presented our current information and findings along with our potential goal of research to conduct and there were a lot of positive feedback around our chosen topic. I also notice a great amount of support for how this project hopes to shape a classroom and education experience for marginalized students. I do hope this project will provide an insight to making more inclusive and well rounded classroom and a better understanding of digital space for students. We also had feedback for professional sources and case studies to back up the researched sub-topics, which are great ideas! We have professional sources that were not presented on the presentation slides, but we can surely try to focus on gathering more primary and secondary sources. I am not sure, if a case study will be easily available or be sensible to share too much, but I am interested in supporting our central question and the sub-topics with some real life scenarios.

Overall, it was a great checkpoint for our pod presentation and the use of padlet was very useful in this process.
